Overview

Located in the heart of Sevilla’s Casco Antiguo, Dona Carmen is a charming local café that truly embraces the spirit of authentic Spanish cuisine. Nestled on C. San Eloy, 19, it offers visitors a genuine taste of regional favorites, with a focus on classic comfort dishes that feel like home.

The star of the menu has to be the churros—whether you're trying the classic Churros con Chocolate Caliente or the unique Churros de Papa, freshly crafted, piping hot, and crispy. These fried delights come accompanied by a rich, not overly sweet chocolate sauce, perfect for dipping. For those seeking a true local experience, pairing churros with a café or enjoying the Café con Churros becomes an understated ritual.

Beyond the sweet offerings, Dona Carmen serves up hearty dishes like the iconic Paella and the beloved Papas Bravas, giving diners a taste of Spain’s savory soul food. Simple yet carefully made, these items speak to those who appreciate traditional flavors over flashiness.

The ambiance mirrors the unpretentious charm found in many of Sevilla’s neighborhood spots. With modest seating, including some outdoor options, it’s a welcoming place to relax after shopping or sightseeing. The atmosphere is laid-back, approachable, and offers a window into local daily life — a big plus for travelers wanting an immersive experience rather than a polished tourist trap.

Service here is friendly and attentive. While English is spoken at a basic level by some staff, the warmth and helpfulness bridge any language gaps. Customers often highlight the quick service and the kindness of the team, which adds to the overall comfort of the visit.

Dona Carmen caters primarily to those looking for an authentic, affordable Spanish café experience. It’s perfect for anyone craving freshly made churros or simple, satisfying local dishes without the fuss. Although the setting is modest, and facilities might not be pristine, the genuine food quality and hospitable vibe make it a worthwhile stop in Sevilla’s historic district.

In essence, Dona Carmen captures the flavor and soul of traditional Spanish café culture. It invites both locals and tourists to enjoy hearty fried dough snacks, flavorful staples like paella, and a warm atmosphere reflective of Sevilla’s timeless charm.

Freshly made, churros are crispy and hot! Chocolate sauce is not too sweet, perfect for dipping. Staff there can speak English for basic communication, truly appreciate it! Gracias!

An authentic Spanish café with great local food. Doesn't have lots of options (mostly fried, sweet, savoury and fatty food that you could call "soul food"). Some waiters speak decent English and food is served quite fast. It has some outside seating options. Very well priced.

This place feels very authentic to me. We liked the churros and the tostada with tomato. Obviously not a fancy place, bathrooms not very clean, but would definitely recommend for the food, atmosphere and super nice service.

The churro de papas were just the snack we needed during our walk around the shops in the area. Good portion with free flow cinnamon sugar. It is a very chill spot that is very affordable at the same time.

A super local establishment with very quick service. Everyone was kind and helpful even with limited English. The churros were piping hot and crispy. They might not be everyone's cup of tea but if you enjoy eating fried dough, then you'll love it. The location is great and I really appreciated the free water you can receive with your order. Must definitely try!

Great experience in a typical restaurant. Surrounded by local people, you can taste the best churros anytime of the day. We went there first for breakfast, before going to the Museo de Bellas Artes. After we went again there for lunch. We ordered 4 tapas, which are served very quickly, all of them are delicious! To be recommended strongly!
